Tomb Raider 2
Tomb Raider 2 was developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive in 1997 as the follow up to the original Tomb Raider, the game which spearheaded Lara Croft into becoming the iconic game chracter she is today. The game begins with a homage to the original, in a level based around the Great Wall of China filled with the usual spike pits and boulders but then leads the player to more vibrant locations such as Venice, an oil-rig, an underwater shipwreck and a Tibetan monastery.
The gameplay is much more dynamic than the original, mainly due to the variety of the environments and Lara’s expanded arsenal of weaponry which include a grenade launcher and an M-16 rifle. This installment also introduces the player to controllable vehicles in the form of a speedboat and a snowmobile, both of which improve Lara’s long distance mobility and evasive tactics.
